#Blog 11 1:1 Poster Of Furniture and Artefact My poster concept of 1:1 working drawings with plans and elevations, including the final outcome of the artefact.  Plan of my artefact  Elevation of my artefact  Drawing of my artefact  The Ecobot is an artefact inspired by the fictional character Wall-E, a robot that collects and organizes waste. Designed to collect rubbish from a community center, the Ecobot reimagines discarded materials as agents with vitality, aligning with Jane Bennett's Vibrant Matter . It also reflects Richard Serra’s action-oriented verbs like discard, gather, collect, and group , emphasizing material transformation. The development of the Ecobot began with the idea of reclaiming waste as vibrant and meaningful. Inspired by Bennett’s notion that objects have agency, the design uses discarded furniture—an old wooden table—to highlight how objects can shape ecological systems. Functionally, the Ecobot collects and groups waste, promoting cl...

#Blog 10 Performance of Senses

#Blog 10 Performance of Senses In the following studio class, we engaged in a discussion about integrating and combining everyone’s ideas into a collaborative sheet that captures the performance of all senses, including touch, feel, hearing, vision, mind, and body. So, we were a team of 6 people, Myself, Gladis, Umran, Usman, Zara and Foad. We planned to rework on the entire site as we are a big team and also Fratton community centre needed us. Site Analysis As a team, we visited the site Fratton Community Centre and found the space was actually used by all age groups so it should be redesigned based on the usage of the people. It was located on Trafalger Pl, Fratton, Portsmouth. We drew the layout of the space and also did the site analysis as well. It serves as a central hub for local residents, offering a diverse range of facilities and activities. The centre is open daily, with operating hours varying throughout the week. They have facilities like the gym, sports hall, function ...

#Blog 9 Design Implementation at FRATTON

#Blog 9 Design Implementation at FRATTON During last week's review, we discovered elements that were initially overlooked, such as the similarities in the verbs used across each teammate's work. This revealed a common ground that deepened our understanding of the project. We focused on the performance of the senses like touch, hearing, sight, and the connection between mind and body—to enrich the experience and exploration of our work. Later, as part of the process, I focused on verbs such as discard , gather , collect , and group , inspired by Richard Serra. Interestingly, verbs like gather , assemble , inlay , and discover were commonly used across the team, highlighting shared themes in our work. I chose to rework the shed at the Fratton Centre, as the space felt dull, unwelcoming, and primarily used for storage. Firstly, the walls needed windows to address the lack of ventilation and bring in natural light—an essential aspect, especially considering how Usman's w...

#Blog 8 The Visual Voice

#Blog 8 The Visual Voice We had a photography session on 24th of November,2024 learning a new workshop, like photography, often feels like stepping into excitement. I started to keep my ecobot and experiment with it on different angles. It can evoke a mix of emotions, depending on the perspective and openness to the experience:  Discovering the art and techniques behind photography can spark a sense of awe. We start noticing details in everyday life—light, shadows, angles—that have overlooked before. Understanding the tools, like cameras and lenses, might seem like decoding a new language.  As we begin experimenting and learning, there's a sense of empowerment in  capturing moments and telling stories through unique lens.  Photography encourages us to see the world differently. It invites you to play with colors, textures, and perspectives, making the process deeply immersive. We  might not get the perfect shot on the first try, which can be frustra...
